HIS RESURRECTION |
2 See the chains of death are broken!
Earth below and heaven above Joy in each amazing token
Of His rising, Lord of love; He for evermore shall reign
By the Father's side, Till He comes to earth again,
Comes to claim His bride. |
3 Glorious angels downward thronging
Hail the Lord of all the skies; Heaven, with joy and holy longing
For the Word incarnate cries, " Christ is risen! Earth, rejoice 1
Gleam, ye starry train! All creation, find a voice!
He o'er all shall reign! "

2 Jesus lives! henceforth is death But the gate of life immortal;
I This shall calm our trembling breath, When we pass its gloomy portal. Alleluia! |
4 Jesus lives! our hearts know well
Naught from us His love shall sever; Life, nor death, nor powers of hell Tear us from His keeping ever.
Alleluia! |
3 Jesus lives! for us He died; Then, alone to Jesus living, Pure in heart may we abide, Glory to our Saviour giving.
Alleluia! |
5 Jesus lives! to Him the throne Over all the world is given: May we go where He has gone,
Rest and reign with Him in heaven.
Alleluia!
